Result: Loss
This is a 10* play on the NYY.
The Blue Jays are leading the major leagues in scoring, but still sit dead last in the AL East. Their pitching staff has been a big disappointment, and it's not just the starters. Their bullpen ranks among the worst in baseball, and their defense isn't a strength.
R.A. Dickey will toe the rubber for Toronto, and he's off to a rough start to the season. Dickey (0-3, 5.23 ERA) allowed four runs on nine hits over seven innings in a loss to Boston his last time out. Prior to that he was rocked for eight runs on nine hits over just 4 2/3 innings in a loss to Tampa.
The Yankees will hand the ball to Chase Whitley, who's looked pretty solid so far. Whitley (1-0, 1.80 ERA) allowed one run on five hits over five innings in a win over Tampa in his only appearance. The 25 year old also had a good showing this spring, racking up a dozen strikeouts over 15 innings, giving up just two runs.
The Yankees have been playing far better baseball of late, and their bullpen has been a lot more reliable as well.
Take NYY.
