This is a 10* play on the Washington Nationals.

The Nats have officially put their slow start behind them, coming into tonight's Game 2 at San Diego as winners of nine of their last 11. They are just 1.5 games back of the Mets for the top spot in the NL East, and they show no signs of slowing down.

Jordan Zimmerman will toe the slab for the Nats, and he's enjoyed success in previous trips to San Diego. Zimmerman (2-2, 4.20 ERA) allowed three runs on eight hits over six innings in a home win over the Braves his last time out. He's 2-1 with a 2.10 ERA in his last five starts versus the Padres, and 2-1 with a 0.78 ERA in his last three starts at PETCO.

The Friars hand the ball to Odrisamer Despaigne, who was obliterated in his last two appearances. Despaigne (2-1, 5.13 ERA) was torched for eight runs on 10 hits over five innings in an 11-0 loss at Arizona his last time out. He was rocked for four runs on four hits in less than two innings in his last appearance at home.

Wilson Ramos comes in riding a 16 game hitting streak, batting .397 with 10 RBIs during that span. He's hit .346 with eight RBIs in his last seven games against San Diego.

Take WAS.
