The Orioles wasted another solid outing from Wei-Yin Chen last night, failing to get him any runs in a 3-1 loss to the Angels. They couldn't get anything going against Jered Weaver, but I like their chances against a struggling Angels hurler here tonight.
Matt Shoemaker will toe the slab for the Halos, and he's failed to live up to expectations this season. Shoemaker (2-3, 6.61 ERA) was rocked for six runs on six hits over just three innings in a home loss to the Astros his last time out. He gave up three home runs in that game, and that's been an issue all year as he's allowed a total of 10 in his six starts.
The Orioles will hand the ball to Ubaldo Jiminez, who has been rock solid so far for Baltimore. Jiminez (3-2, 2.41 ERA) allowed a pair of runs on six hits, striking out nine in seven innings in a home win over Toronto his last time out. He's 3-0 with an 0.86 ERA, striking out 23 in 21 innings in his three home starts this season.
Adam Jones is swinging a hot bat, and he's 2-for-3 lifetime versus Shoemaker. Both of those hits left the ballpark.
