Schule's MLB AFTERNOON EXECUTIONER - ATL@MIA
(MLB) Atlanta vs. Miami, 05/16/2015 9:00 AM, Score: 5 - 3
Money Line: -122.00 Miami (Home)
Result: Loss
This is a 10* play on the Miami Marlins.

The Fish won seven of nine in their last home stand, but went on the road and lost six of 10. They came up short last night, losing to the Braves in their first of a stretch of 10 games at Marlins Park. I like their chances of getting back on track here this afternoon.

Mat Latos will toe the slab for the Fish, and he's turned his season around. Latos (1-3, 4.72 ERA) allowed just one run on seven hits over seven innings in a no decision at San Francisco his last time out. The Marlins were winners in each of his previous three starts, and a matinee in Miami looks like a favorable situation for Latos. He boasts a record of 15-4 with a 3.00 ERA in 33 starts in day games over the last three seasons.

The Braves hand the ball to Alex Wood, who doesn't miss "the wood" very often. Wood (1-2, 4.28 ERA) allowed three runs on eight hits over 6 2/3 innings in a loss at Washington his last time out. It was the fourth time in seven starts this season that he's given up eight or more hits.

Dee Gordon leads the major leagues batting .433 so far, and he's hitting .429 lifetime versus Wood.

Take MIA.
