The Reds had won three straight games prior to losing Game 2 of this home series versus San Francisco on Friday, but I like their chances of bouncing back here in Game 3, as they appear to have a favorable matchup on the mound.
Mike Leake will toe the rubber for the Reds, and he's been solid as a rock this season. Leake (2-1, 2.36 ERA) allowed just one run on eight hits over six innings in a no decision versus Atlanta his last time out. He tossed 16 scoreless innings in his previous two starts, and he has a history of success against the Giants. Leake is 3-1 with a 2.57 ERA in four starts versus the Giants over the last three seasons.
The Giants hand the ball to Ryan Vogelsong, and despite recent success, I still feel the veteran's best days are behind him. Vogelsong (1-2, 5.67 ERA) allowed one run on four hits over seven innings in a home win over Miami his last time out. He tossed seven scoreless innings in a win over the Padres prior to that, but both of those starts were at AT&T Park, and he's been clobbered on the road.
The 37 year old is 0-2 with a 13.50 ERA on the road this season, and his troubles away from home are nothing new. He was 5-6 with a 5.10 ERA on the road last year. The Reds lineup is hitting .308 versus Vogelsong.
