Rogers' 10* Thursday Night THROWDOWN - Won 12 of Last 16 Days!
(NFL) NY Jets vs. Buffalo, 09/15/2016 4:25 PM, Score: 37 - 31
Point Spread: 1.50 | -115.00 Buffalo (Home)
Result: Loss
NY Jets: The Jets ran for 152 yards (on 5.1 YPC) against Cincinnati and held the Bengals to 57 yards on the ground (3.0 YPC). New Yorks' defense sacked Cincy QB Andy Dalton seven times last Sunday and the TO battle was even (one apiece). However, the Jets were not able to win at home, losing 23-22. New York's offense received mixed reviews, as veteran RB Matt Forte (96 rushing, 59 receiving) amassed 155 yards from scrimmage in his debut (the good) but former Chicago Bears teammate Brandon Marshall was limited to just three catches and committed a costly drop in the fourth quarter (the bad). QB Ryan Fitzgerald threw for two TDs but had a costly interception late and passed for less than 200 yards. The defense did have those seven sacks but CB Darrelle Revis and the rest of the secondary allowed A.J. Green to catch 12 balls for 180 yards (one TD).

Buffalo: No team stumbled more statistically on defense than the Bills did last season and remember, Rex Ryan is known as a defensive coach. He brought his brother in to run the defense in 2016 (does that help?) but Buffalo's defense wasn't the problem in Week 1. The Bills held the Ravens to a modest 308 yards (just 83 yards rushing on 3.0 YPC) and only 13 points but Buffalo's offense was downright putrid. The Bills scored a mere seven points while accounting for 160 yards of total offense. Taylor completed 15 of 22 for just 122 yards. He rarely threw deep, something in which he excelled in doing last season in his first year as a starter. His longest pass on Sunday was a 33-yarder on a broken play to tight end Charles Clay (only one other pass play topped 10 yards). As for the Bills' running game? It was non-existent. Buffalo led the NFL with 152.0 YPG (on 4.8 YPC) in 2015 but was held to 65 rushing (2.7 YPC) by the Ravens.

The pick: The two AFC rivals must each turn the page quickly, as both have just three days before they meet for the 111th time in the regular season (Buffalo leads the series 59-51). The Jets played well enough to win last week (but didn't), while Buffalo's total offense output of 160 yards was its worst in 10 years, and its lowest in a season opener since 1979! Tape doesn't lie," Ryan told the New York Post on Monday. "We really struggled and we clearly have to get better in a hurry ... and, oh by the way, we're playing against even a better defense (in the Jets)." Buffalo has won and covered the past five games in the series (won by identical 22-17 scores against the Jets last season) and I see no reason for the Bills not to make it six straight wins and covers against the Jets on Thursday. Buffalo is a 10*
