The St. Louis Cardinals managed to cool off the red hot Arizona Diamondbacks with a 4-3 victory last night to tie the three-game set at 1-1. I don't think they'll claim the rubber match of the series Thursday afternoon.
The D'Backs left-hander Patrick Corbin (6-7, 4.89 ERA) is 2-1 with a 2.95 ERA through his past three starts and he's 5-2 with a 3.19 ERA in nine starts at Chase Field on the season. The Cardinals' right-hander Lance Lynn (5-5, 3.86 ERA) has surrendered seven runs in each of his last two starts while serving up a total of six homers. Arizona has knocked the ball out of the park on 61 occasions in 41 home games this season.
The Cardinals are 4-12 in their last 16 road games and 0-5 in Lynn's last five road starts. The Diamondbacks are 4-0 in their last four games following a loss and 7-1 in Corbin's last eight home starts.
