Take #623 VCU/Utah Under
(NCAAB) VCU vs. Utah,
Total: 145.50 | -110.00 Under
Result: Win
So Utah and VCU have no history as this is the first meeting ever between the two teams, and the winner gets to go play at Hinkle Fieldhouse on Butler's Campus for the NIT semifinals in April - So VCU beat Villanova and South Florida and covered both of those games as well, so they are playing well, and Utah beat UC Irvine and Iowa to get here and they covered both of those games as well - So it's interesting you have two teams coming off two wins each and each team covered both of their games, so something's GOTTA give here right? Who's gonna bend who's gonna break? Another interesting dichotomy here, is you have a terrific offense in Utah, vs a terrific defense in VCU...HOWEVER, You have a bad offense in VCU against a bad defense in Utah, so there's a ton of stuff going on here but I'll tell you what...I'm leaning toward the under here - So both of Utah's NIT games so far have gone well over the total, however I think this one is a little more defensive oriented as why would the oddsmakers hang a 145.5 after Utah scored 84 and 91? Probably because they know VCU does have that tremendous defense and can slow this game down and play to their pace...VCU is #299 in the country in Adjusted Tempo with only 65.5 possessions per 40 minutes of play, so I think VCU plays their type of game here and this game goes under the posted total
