Auburn fits into a couple of angles. One that says go with vastly inferior spread team and another similar one which has to go with a horrible spread team in the bowls. Teams playing in their home state are very good plays in the bowls. This is a virtual home game for Auburn traveling 99 miles, compared to 217 for Memphis.

Auburn is vastly superior at every position other than QB. Oh of course that is the most important one, but it is a classic battle of overachieving against underachieving in which the long rest is such a great equalizer.

Auburn is wisely using the element of surprise by not naming a starter at QB to help narrow the one and only advantage the out-of-state Tigers have.
