This is only the third time a bowl game has seen a total of 40 or less. The previous two had an average total of 39 and average points scored of 63. By no means would I make a decision over a two-game sample size. But it does give even more validity to our theory that all the time off allows teams to address weaknesses.

Both head coaches come from offensive backgrounds. Both certainly used the extra practices to jumpstart their offenses. Our true line (previously known as outlaw line) is 41. With such a low total and crossing 40, this is no small difference.

The true line is what the line would be without public perception or bad line moves.
