Wise Guy
(NFL) Seattle vs. Minnesota,
Point Spread: -4.50 | -102.00 Seattle (Away)
Result: Loss
This is perfect example of using the oddsmakers knowledge against them. Road favorites in the playoffs with a worse straight up mark than their opponent are 8-0 straight up and against the spread since 2004. The average line is -3.7 with the average margin of victory 10.3. Hold on. Better yet with the road team implied by the oddsmakers is better, we have a 15-0 angle. What we mean is that they team is either favored or laying 2.5 or less. Remember three-points is home field edge, hence a three-point home favorite implies two evenly matched teams. The average line is +.4 yes that is point four, as in less than a half. The average margin of victory is 9.6.

Seattle is possibly the best team in the NFL on both sides of the ball. They are infinitely better than their record, which of course the oddsmakers are telling us. Listen to them.

Of course Seattle has not only the experience but also the incentive after coming two yards short of two straight Super Bowl wins.
