The Tigers didn't quite run at the hurry-up pace coach Gus Malzahn desires in a 31-24 victory against Washington State, but it was somewhat expected. They're breaking in Nick Marshall at quarterback and preparing for each opponent presents different challenges with the scheme.

Washington State threw some defensive formations that caused Auburn to slow it down on offense to adapt. That's not the case this week as the Tigers prepare to face an Arkansas State defense that Malzahn is very familiar with. Lashlee pointed to the improvement with pace and execution during their first and only year together at Arkansas State, when the Red Wolves picked up the pace in the second half of a 57-34 loss at Oregon in the season opener and it continued to improve in Week 2.

Also look for the Tigers to take time to grasp defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson and his complex defense.
