That was a tough one for the Padres last night, as Nolan Arenado's walk-off single in the ninth inning gave the Cards a 4-3 win, a bitter pill for San Diego to swallow on a night it lost ground to both the Dodgers and D-backs in the NL West. But things don't look so bad in the Thursday robber match at Busch Stadium because the edge seems to clearly be with the Padres and Michael King, who has been very effective for most of the summer. To wit: since June 29, San Diego has won 7 of 9 starts made by King, who has spun a nifty 2.05 across those past nine efforts. Meanwhile, Sonny Gray hasn't been in good form for the Redbirds since April. Not lately, as St Louis has lost in five of his last six starts, and since the beginning of July, Gray's ERA is a very unimpressive 5.83. Play Padres on Money Line
