Miami-Fla at Florida
(NCAAF) Hurricanes (MFL) vs. Gators (FLA),
Point Spread: 2.50 | -105.00 Gators (FLA) (Home)
Result: Loss
With so many similarities here, including both coaches looking for some traction entering their third seasons, we don't quite get why Miami has to be favored in this game, even slightly so. If anything, we maintain Mario Cristobal's tenure to date with the Canes has been less impressive than Billy Napier's in Gainesville, as we recall well how Cristobal made hash of QB Tyler Van Dyke, rated a peripheral Heisman candidate when Cristobal arrived in 2022 but so disappointing in the subsequent two seasons at Coral Gables. Thus, not quite sold on Washington State transfer QB Cam Ward, the supposed jewel of the portal, as the new savior, especially as we recall lots of Ward dinks-and-dunks at Pullman. OSU transfer RB Damien Martinez gives an old Pac-12 look to Miami, but carrying points into the Swamp is treacherous. Napier got some mileage from Wiscy transfer QB Graham Mertz, who is back in the fold, and home edge still potentially means something for Florida, even if it hasn't always capitalized the past few years.
