Don't shut the door in the AL West quite yet. The Astros just tossed the Mariners a lifeline by getting swept in Cincinnati. And while Seattle didn't fully capitalize this week in Oakland, the Mariners did win the last two of the four game set and have closed the gap back to 4.5 games in the West. It also might be a time for Bryce Miller, who has generally pitched in bad luck, to take advantage of recent form that highlights a 1.88 ERA across his last five starts. On the other side, note Erick Fedde has made only marginable contributions to the St Louis cause since his deadline deal from the Chisox, as the Redbirds have lost in four of his six starts as he has posted a mediocre 4.64 ERA.
