SEC sources are reminding us that Bobby Petrino (now the o c, a bit controversially so, at Arkansas) tends to burn brightly before staying at the party too long; the thought being to pay close attention early in Petrino's tenure, wherever it might be. Consider, then, last week's warning shot from Fayetteville to the rest of the SEC, as Petrino's Arkansas put 70 on Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Sure, only a modest FCS foe, but nearly 700 yards of offense is good whatever the level of opposition. Moreover, Boise State transfer QB Taylen Green looked very much in command of the offense last week. Meanwhile, we were a bit surprised by Ok State's efficiency in last week's impressive 44-20 rout of defending FCS champ South Dakota State, especially a top performance from ageless QB Alan Bowman (in his 7th college season!), whose career numbers have been rather pedestrian before the tossed for 245 yards, 2 TDs and no picks last week vs. the Jackrabbits . Not to sound snarky, but let's see Bowman do it again this week, this time against a real SEC foe. Play Arkansas
