The Mariners might be catching a break tonight as the Padres send Yu Darvish to the hill, looking to ramp up for a hopeful playoff stint after being sidelined for over three months. Darvish had an awkward return to active duty last Wednesday against the Tigers, lasting only 2 2/3 innings while allowing three runs and four hits. Seattle, digging in after it won the weekend set in St Louis, will think it has the pitching edge tonight if George Kirby can pitch as well as he did in his last start vs. the A's on Wednesday, allowing just two runs thru six innings as Seattle unloaded for a 16-3 win.
