LSU at South Carolina
(NCAAF) Tigers (LSU) vs. Gamecocks (SC),
Point Spread: -5.50 | -115.00 Tigers (LSU) (Away)
Result: Loss
After being "overheated" the first two weeks by the party atmosphere in Las Vegas and the pomp of last Saturday's home opener, perhaps contributing to some sloppy play and needless penalties, many SEC observers believe LSU simply needs to get away from Baton Rouge to play a real, live SEC road game in front of a hostile audience, to kick into gear. Williams-Brice suffices, and the Gamecocks can be pesky, especially with their swarming defense (as Kentucky found out last week) for Shane Beamer. Offensively, however, not so much, as SC still isn't running the football, and new QB LaNorris Sellers only going up top sparingly. Watching LSU, the offense seems much further along, and can sense the real upside for QB Garrett Nussmeier and his wideouts. This is also the sort of game that Brian Kelly has been able to win since taking over the Tigers, as successes the past two years vs. comparable SEC foes Mississippi State, Auburn, and Florida would suggest.
