Patriots at Jets
(NFL) Patriots (NE) vs. Jets (NYJ),
Point Spread: 6.50 | -115.00 Patriots (NE) (Away)
Result: Loss
Perhaps to remind himself to leave no doubt when he faced the Jets that he made the right move by spurning New York and taking the Patriots job back in 2000, Bill Belichick mostly dominated the J-Men, especially the past decade; the Patriots were a near-automatic play in this matchup, at one point winning 15 in a row (13-2 vs. line) prior to the final game of last season. Dynamics, however, have changed in this matchup...no more Belichick, and Aaron Rodgers on the Jets. It's also been a while since the Patriots were an underdog vs. the Jets, but recent performances reflect well on New England. So far, Jerod Mayo has mostly succeeded in slowing the pace of the games, with QB Jacoby Brissett taking few chances, RB Rhahondre Stevenson bucking for yardage, and the mayo defense making it difficult on the opposition. That's the sort of recipe that can keep New England in many games this season, as Cincinnati and Seattle have already found out. Play Patriots
