Memphis at Navy
(NCAAF) Tigers (MEM) vs. Midshipmen (NAV),
Point Spread: 9.50 | -105.00 Midshipmen (NAV) (Home)
Result: Win
If Navy looks a bit different this fall, it's by design. After the option offense lost some zip the past two seasons, HC Brian Newberry added a new OC, Drew Cronic, recently HC at Mercer who had great success using Wing T concepts with the Bears plus earlier stops in his career (including Lenoir-Rhyne). With a Wing T look, the Mids' rushing offense is up about 90 ypg from last season, as QB Blake Horvath has proven a quick study in the new offense. The plan, as has been the same for the past 20 years at Annapolis, is to play ball control and keep Memphis gunslinger QB Seth Henigan on the sidelines as much as possible. Keep in mind that Navy has often turned into a difficult game for the Tigers in the past (as it was last year when barely surviving 28-24 at the Liberty Bowl Stadium), and this could be a letdown spot after that rousing win at Florida State last week. Only a week to prepare for this unique Midshipmen offense could put Memphis at a bit of disadvantage, too. Play Navy
