We have thought all season that the bottom line with these Buckeyes is that Kansas State transfer QB Will Howard has not been much of an upgrade over last year's starter Kyle McCord, who fared just fine at Syracuse this season. New OC Chip Kelly, despite his long relationship with HC Ryan Day, is maybe not as cutting-edge with his play-calling as he was a decade-plus ago at Oregon. Getting stonewalled by Michigan's defense in the reg-season finale has left deep scars in Columbus. Whether confident enough with Vols QB Nico Iamaleava to forecast an outright UT win is a different question. The other viable narrative is that Nico has some issues of his own (as he usually does on the road) with the OSU defense, but the Vols' big, fast and voracious defense does much tot he Buckeye offense what Michigan did on November 30.
