Auburn can further wreck Gretchen Whitrmer's weekend and make it a clean sweep of the Michigan schools in Atlanta, though taking care of Sparty might be a bit more tricky than the Wolverines on Friday night. Or, maybe it won't, as Auburn had to rally from a 9-point deficit almost midway in the second half to outscore Michigan by 22 the rest of the way to win handily. That Bruce Pearl can call upon three scorers who can hit for 20 or more in a Big Dance game as on Friday (when Johni Broome, Denver Jones, and Tahaad Pettiford all did the trick) suggests the Tigers have the sort of explosive balance needed to get back to the Final Four for the first time since 2019. MSU was up against the wall on Friday vs. a slightly-lesser SEC entry (Ole Miss), and for all of the Tom Izzo accolades, he doesn't always win in March, as no coach has lost more games in the Big Dance the past 20 years, either.
