We almost feel guilty backing the Dodgers these days, but if the number is reasonable, even on the Run line, it warrants a look. It's seven up, seven down for the Blue, who brushed aside a mild challenge from the Braves' former Cy Young winner Chris Sale in last night's 3-1 win. Again, the big hit was courtesy Mookie Betts, whose two-run homer in the sixth gave LA the lead. That the Braves couldn't do more than score one run and scratch out only three hits against Dustin May, at the back of the LA rotation, looms more ominous. Ominous, indeed; the Braves can't get on base and can't score, tallying just nine runs in their numbing 0-6 start, and just twice across the past four games, needing an unearned run to get on the board for their only run in the 2nd inning last night. Doubt tonight that Bryce Elder outpitches Blake Snell, especially as Elder was ticketed to AAA Gwinnett to start the season before a sore shoulder for Reynaldo Lopez opened up a spot in the rotation.
