Tigers at Mariners
(MLB) Tigers (DET) vs. Mariners (SEA),
Money Line: -116.00 Tigers (DET) (Away)
Result: Loss
Count us among those who don't think it's too early for the Mariners to sound the alarm bells, as the offense has looked even worse than last season in this slow 2-4 start at T-Mobile Park. The Tigers are also bossing this series, winning handily the past two nights (it was 4-1 last night) and now Seattle must face reigning AL Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal, who had the misfortune of facing the Dodgers in the opener but beat the Mariners in both of his starts vs. Seattle last season (with a 2.08 ERA and .136 OBA in 13 IP). Don't forget that Skubal was also 18-4 with a 2.39 ERA in 2024 (which is why he won the AL Cy Young). As for the popgun Mariners, they've been held to one or two runs across their four losses in the past five games, putting enormous pressure on Luis Castillo to keep the Detroit offense in check and hope Seattle's hitters can eventually do some business vs. AJ Hinch's bullpen.
