It took some odd circumstances (among them Washington State's lack of resolve) allowed Georgetown to advance into the quarterfinals of the Crown. We might say Monday was a master-class provided by Ed Cooley, who is down his top three scorers in Vegas, yet the Hoyas still managed to outgun the Cougs thanks mostly to a career-high 37 points from G Malik Mack, who apparently likes the Vegas surroundings. (Perhaps he should transfer to UNLV?) But G-town still allowed the Cougs to hit 50% from the floor and a repeat performance seems unlikely. Meanwhile, the Huskers finally shook the cobwebs to see of scrappy Arizona State on Monday, but would still seem to rate as one of the favorites in this event with a mostly-full roster available to Fred Hoiberg, and senior stars G Brice Williams (30 points on Monday) & F Juwan Gray (18 vs. the Sun Devils) looking to close their careers with a flourish.
