It looks like this will be the last of this Battle of Lombardy for at least another season as Monza appears doomed to relegation from Serie A, ten points from 17th place safety with only eight matches to go. What's daunting is that after thirty league matches, Monza has only 15 points. No surprise with a popgun offense scoring less than one goal pg and already twice switching managers, including bringing back the one originally moved out (Alessandro Nesta). With only four goals in the last nine matches, and blanked six times that span, it's easy to see why Monza is threatened by the drop. Meanwhile, in 13th place and seven points ahead of Empoli in 18th, Cesc Fabregas has probably done enough for his nearby Como to safely make it back to Serie A next season, though recent form has been a little tepid, and winless in March.
