A sometimes-overlooked stat that we like to reference beyond ERAs and WHIPS which is actually pretty straightforward-- what is the W-L record of the team when a certain pitcher starts? That's the most important stat of all, and in the case of Seattle with Bryan Woo on the hill, very enlightening, as the Mariners are 6-0 in his starts. No wonder, as he rarely gives up any runs (1.07 ERA) or baserunners (0.53 WHIP), so how could it be anything else? Woo did skip a start his last time up in the rotation so is on the hill for the first time since June 6, but his case is compelling, as is that of the Mariners, now in full gallop with wins in four straight and 8 of 9 to move clear in the AL West.
