The Mets have gotten back into the NL, playoff picture largely because of the Nats, who have failed to New York on seven different occasions in nine tries since early June. A three-game Mets sweep in D.C. early last month triggered the NY uprising that now sees it above .500, and the matchup looks promising this afternoon against Nats starter MacKenzie Gore, who has labored with a 5.35 ERA since the start of June and was blasted by the Cards in his last start, allowing five runs and six hits in just 3 1/3 IP last Saturday.
