Old Dominion vs. Texas State: Oct. 19th, 2024
(NCAAF) Bobcats (TXST) vs. Monarchs (ODU),
Point Spread: -9.50 | -112.00 Bobcats (TXST) (Away)
Result: Loss
One of the most fun lower-level conference teams is in action Saturday afternoon, as Texas State travels to face Old Dominion. The Monarchs have home-field advantage, but I like the Bobcats quite a bit.

Texas State's offense is explosive. Quarterback Jordan McCloud has been terrorizing defenses all season long to the tune of more than 1,700 passing yards and 19 touchdowns. The Bobcats have put up 79 points over their last two games, both blowout wins, and neither of their losses (against Arizona State and a sneaky-talented Sam Houston team) are bad.

Old Dominion, meanwhile, simply fails to measure up on either side of the ball. Both of their wins are over lesser teams, and two games ago, they yielded 45 points to Coastal Carolina in a game where opposing quarterback Ethan Vasko threw for a season-high 367 yards. To put that in perspective, Vasko hasn't thrown for more than 249 yards in any other game this season.

I think Texas State is a matchup nightmare for Old Dominion, and that this game won't be a close one. Give me the visitors laying 9.5.
