The 2025 NCAA Tournament is upon us! I'll look to make a score right away, as there's a play I love in the very first game of the round of 64.
Louisville plays Creighton in what's basically a home game for the Cardinals, at UK's Rupp Arena. Creighton's no slouch, but Louisville got shafted on Selection Sunday and probably deserved a significantly higher seed. Under first-year head coach Pat Kelsey, Louisville won 27 games, including 18 in ACC play. They rank in the top 30 of KenPom's offensive and defensive efficiency metrics, and their resume includes several high-quality wins.
It shouldn't be a blowout, but if the Cardinals can find a way to neutralize Ryan Kalkbrenner, I think they win fairly comfortably. Given their record on both ends of the floor and what's likely to be a very pro-Louisville crowd, I like the chances of that happening.
Take the Cards and give the 2.5 points in the first game of the Big Dance.
