Pittsburgh starting pitcher Jared Jones entered spring training expecting to begin the season at the Triple-A level. Instead, the highly touted prospect will be on the mound for his major league debut when the Pirates play on Saturday. Miami will send left-hander Ryan Weathers (1-8, 6.55 ERA in 2023) to the mound against the Pirates. Weathers solidified his spot in the rotation after recording a 3.00 ERA and a 21-to-4 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 18 innings during spring training. He had a 7.62 ERA in three games (two starts) with Miami after being acquired last August. National League batting champion Luis Arraez is 0-for-10 for the Marlins, who have hit into seven double plays through two games. Take PITTSBURGH!
