With their 4-1 win in the Bronx yesterday the Tigers have won 8 of their last 11 games. Amazingly, Detroit has allowed an average of only 2.6 runs per game during this 11-game stretch.

That spells bad news for a White Sox team that has lost 7 of their last 9 games and averaged only 3.2 runs per game in their last 10 games.

Matt Boyd gets the starts for the Tigers and he has allowed only 9 hits in the 11 and 2/3 innings of work spanning his last two outings. The Detroit southpaw has actually had no hitters going through the first four innings of each of those starts. James Shields has now given up 17 earned runs in the 4 and 2/3 innings spanning his last two starts.

Shields is 2-8 on the season and the White Sox are 5-9 against left-handed starters this year.
