This figures to be a big start for Luke Weaver, who could be the odd man out of the rotation when Alex Reyes returns. He has a lot of prove here and has very good stuff.
Weaver won his last start, tossing five shutout innings at San Diego.


The Cardinals finally got their offence back on track yesterday afternoon by scoring seven runs in a 7-5 victory over the Minnesota Twins. STL is 13-5 their last 18 when facing the Phillies at home.

Meanwhile his counterpart, Vince Velasquez, has given up a HR in each of his last five games, including two home runs in his only start against the Cardinals last season.

The Cards are 5-0 at home in their last five against teams with a winning record and are 9-1 in Weavers' last 10 starts with five days of rest. Lastly playing at Busch Stadium gives the Cardinals a massive advantage over a Phillies squad who is just 8-10 on the road this year.
